Making A User Friendly Site

If you were to walk into a business establishment, browsing a website but you couldn't find the products and services that were being offered for sale or someone that could help you with your inquiry, chances are pretty good that you would leave it? But when you look at a website that's poorly designed, the same things happened. Visitors who can't immediately figure out a website are more than likely going to go back to the web search page to see what other sites are available.

Visitors are coming to your site for a many reason. Whatever that reason may be, you want to provide them with what they are looking. Are they coming to find information on your business and services? Are they coming to read articles on a particular subject? Whatever the case may be, the information that your website provides needs to sufficiently meet the expectations of visitors.

It's a matter of creating a user friendly site and here's how you can do it.
Now how are you going to make your own website friendlier to your readers and visitors? Actually, what would you do to gain new visitors' attention and daily visit? Of course if you have a company site or a static site where there aren't much updates, you won't gain as much from it. You're more likely to gain sales or advertisers rather than continuous readers and visitors :-).
Everyone who owns a website wants their website to be more user-friendly. The fact of the matter is, the more user-friendly your website is, the more likely people are to come back
When developing a website, the user's wants and needs should always be in the forefront of the decision making process. It doesn't matter what type of website you run, it needs to be user-focused. Unfortunately, sometimes it's easy to get caught up in the design and development process and create a site that satisfies the designer or the owner but doesn't really provide visitors with much value.

Following these basic and web standard concepts will ensure a good start to designing a user-friendly web site. Attracting visitors, search engine optimization and marketing, and helping a visitor respond favorably once they are on your web site are a whole other matter.
Use good design elements and structure to make your web pages more attractive, inviting and easier to follow. Keep paragraphs short and to the point using key phrases and punch lines. Don't bore your viewer. Use dark text on light backgrounds. Always use excellent writing skills with proper grammar, punctuation, spelling and user friendly vocabulary.

The colors you choose for your website is actually a huge factor to being user friendly too. If you have bright colors, it would most definitely hurt a visitor's eyes regardless of what your website's topic is. Choose something soothing and keep it to only 2-3 colors rather than 10-20 different conflicting colors.

In a web page you don't have that luxury. However, you have a very simple way to tell your visitors where they've been: just give your visited links a different color.
